Tackle

The amount of tackle you need depends on how experienced you are and how much fishing you plan to do. Beginners will eventually need a licence (see table above), but it may not be necessary for your first lessons.

Beginners' lessons - I will provide rods, reels, lines, etc. Intermediates - By all means, bring your own gear. However, I will also supply anything missing for your lesson. If you would like advice on what to buy, either for yourself or perhaps as a gift for a fishing friend, I will be happy to help.

Clothing

Wear warm and comfortable clothes. The other essentials are:
• Wellingtons or other rubber boots
• Waterproof jacket
• Sunglasses
• Hat

The hat and glasses are essential safety items, so don't forget them. You only need buy specialist equipment if you are truly 'hooked' on this great sport.
