If you have never fished before, you may be wondering what is in it for you? Apart from the chance of catching a trout for your supper, here are just a few of the benefits:
• True relaxation - fishing takes your mind away from everything else
• A stress-free chance to learn a new skill or improve an old one
• Exercise and fresh air
• Wildlife watching - rivers and reservoirs are great places to see birds and animals
From the time I was five and my father first took me fishing to the River Dart in Devon, I have had a lifetime of fun from the sport. I've taken every opportunity I could to fish and now get even more pleasure from seeing others discover the joys of angling. I enjoy every kind of fishing, but specialise in teaching how to fish for salmon, sea trout and trout.
Fishing can be a sociable activity or a solitary one, so you can fish to suit your mood. Trips away with like-minded people are lively, entertaining and relaxing. If you catch a fish, it's 'the icing on the cake'.
Fishing is for everyone, from children to their grandparents.
Women are often particularly good anglers - a Miss Ballantine caught the record salmon on a rod in 1922 and she has never yet been beaten.
Fishing can make part of a family holiday, a 'fishing only' weekend, or simply an evening at the local reservoir. If you have a disability, you can still fish. Contact me for more details. |
